SAP is the widely known ERP Company that allows firms to manage back-end services related to technology and finance. It is a Software as a service (Saas) that enables users to run and update without necessarily downloading it onto their desktop.
Five former IBM employees founded the SAP system after IBM cancelled a project they were previously working on. It means that IBM does not own SAP.
SAP HANA is a relational database and software platform that allows for real-time data processing and a high-performance analytics level. The main advantage of AWS on Sap is that it provides clients with SAP-certified equipment types that enable it to run SAP HANA.
How to Install SAP on AWS
1. Create an AWS Account
It is merely creating an account on AWS. To complete the registration, one must select the region, create a pairing key, and request account quotas if required.
2. Make a Subscription to the Operating System Image
It is an important step, but one can choose to skip it if you plan to use the SLES operating system.
3. Download and Install the SAP HANA Application
Once downloaded, place the files in an S3 bucket. If you do not wish to install the SAP HANA software, you can skip this step.
4. Open the Stack
At this stage, one needs to open the AWS CloudFormation platform into the account. Set the parameters and create the stack.
The good thing about a quick start is that it enables different templates for single-AZ and multiple AZ scenarios. It is also combined with the end to end deployment into the current VPC.
5. Verify the SAP HANA Nodes
Accessing is simply through the SAP HANA studio or SSH and the bastion host.
6. Finalize any other tasks
Check for any updates before using the SAP HANA and AWS. This move ensures that you correctly check if the system is backed up and configured correctly.
Advantages of SAP on AWS
a) Compatible with several operating systems
Many firms do not have to struggle to try to change the operating system in their servers. Amazon Web Service Cloud supports various operating systems in servers.
Some of the servers supported include:
• Oracle Linux
• Windows server
• Red Hat Linux
• SUSE Linux enterprise server
It also controls the running of specific databases such as Microsoft SQL and SAP HANA. It helps the company save a lot on the total infrastructure cost.
b) Highly flexible
The SAP setup on AWS is available in different varieties. One can now use SAP on AWS with minimum worries about the amount of storage.
SAP customers can choose to start with a small memory capacity and upgrade as time goes by. This action is fast and straightforward.
c) Secure and allow for virtual networking
Most cloud computing technologies are not safe to use, but Amazon Web services are the most secure technology to use. It is because it uses the Amazon Virtual Private Cloud.
The cloud allows one to create a private virtual network within a secluded section in the AWS cloud. Because of this, SAP customers can link their data centres and create a private network.
d) Fast and performs well
The development of the various elastic compute cloud using Amazon Web Services enables users to meet specific workload demands. The elastic compute cloud runs on a 64-bit Intel processor and at the same time running at high throughput and low latency while using the Amazon Network Adapter.
SAP guarantees businesses good performance and top speed. These are the main factors that the majority of firms depend on in their day to day operations.
e) Enjoy an Economy of Scale
For a business to succeed, they must work to get the maximum output of any resource and at the same time minimise the input. Most businesses using SAP systems have now relocated to using SAP on AWS.
Using AWS makes companies enjoy the economies of scale due to the AWS features and its efficiency. It helps save on cost and at the same time maximizes the output.
f) Allows one to back up information
Information is very critical for every business. Businesses need to secure their information and create a backup system due to uncertainties.
Amazon web services allow for the backup of information at no cost.
Relationship of Google and SAP system
In the year 2017, Google announced a partnership with SAP to provide SAP HANA. It gives Google a significant enterprise customer for its cloud platform.
SAP Cloud Platform Environments
There are two different development environment in SAP. These include the Cloud Foundry and Neo.
The availability of these two platforms gives clients an array of technologies to use.
i) Cloud Foundry
It is a multi-cloud application platform. It runs applications in different programming languages, making it popular to create and deploy cloud applications for both public and private cloud environments.
ii) Neo Environment
The Neo environment runs on an SAP propriety runtime environment that supports SAP HANA XS, HTML 5, and Java applications. These applications run on a modular and straightforward runtime container.
The Neo enables one to use virtual machines; therefore, you can install and maintain your Software. Virtual machines include the Central Processing Unit, RAM, and the installed operating system.
The collaboration between SAP and AWS has been there for the last ten years. They work together to ensure the provision of fast and effective memory deployment options.
They have a wide variety of functions suitable for both businesses and individual use. Businesses using SAP have high productivity since they run smoothly and efficiently.
